Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? We’ve got answers!
-
All access to railroad property requires approval through our Right of Entry process. To request access, you must complete the online access application form. This process ensures that all activities are reviewed for safety, regulatory compliance, and operational impacts before access is granted. You will be required to provide details including location, purpose, duration, and personnel involved. Access is strictly prohibited until formal approval and Right of Entry permit is issued. Depending on the request, additional requirements may include safety training, proof of insurance, and coordination with authorized railroad personnel. Please contact the named personnel on the permit for additional information.
-
Most work on or near railroad property requires protective services, including flagging. Requirements are determined based on the scope, location, and potential impact to railroad operations. To determine if flagging is required, refer to the Railroad Flagging Requirement Sheet located on each railroad specific webpage. If your project meets the criteria, you must submit a Flagging Request Form for review and coordination. All flagging must be scheduled and performed by authorized railroad personnel. Work may not begin until flagging requirements are confirmed, and proper protection is in place.
-
All employment opportunities are posted on the Careers page of our website. Applicants must submit an application through this portal to be considered for open positions. The Careers page provides current job listings, position requirements, and application instructions. Only applications submitted through the official site will be reviewed.
-
All utility crossings and easements require prior review and written approval. To initiate a request, you must submit an application through the online Utility Crossing/Easement Request Form. Each request is evaluated for safety, regulatory compliance, engineering standards, and potential impacts to railroad operations. Supporting documentation such as plans, specifications, and insurance will be required as part of the review process. Installation may not begin until a fully executed agreement is in place, and all conditions of approval have been satisfied. All required flagging or protective services must be in place prior to and during any work performed on or near railroad property.
